add append="hdd=ide-scsi" to your lilo.conf if your plextor is on hdd
restart lilo, reboot
then load ide-scsi module like this
modprobe ide-scsi hdd
then a cdrecord -scanbus should show the plextor
also use the last cdrecord (1.9 i think)
