Howdy. I posted yesterday with trouble trying to get a Sun IPX to netboot an install image, and someone from the list said that in addition to putting a manual entry in the arp table, I'd also need to put in a manual rarp listing in the same form. Well, turns out that I can't RARP: [root@gaea /root]# rarp -a This kernel does not support RARP. [root@gaea /root]# uname -a Linux gaea 2.4.0-test9 #4 SMP Wed Nov 1 17:48:41 CST 2000 i686 unknown Bummer! On a lark I recompiled my kernel to include RARP support, in spite of documentation explaining that this was code to allow the kernel to boot with RARP, not server support for same, but this was the only mention of the RARP protocol that I could find. Sure enough, it made no difference. So, can I make a Red Hat 7/Linux 2.4test9/intel box act as a RARP server or some functional equivalent of same? As I understand it, I do need to be able to RARP in order to netboot the IPX, bootp and dhcp are out of the question for this old beast.
