OK, maybe I haven't been totally forth coming with why
I can't get an identd session with my irc server.
I run a little home network (4 networked systems). My
RedHat box is the router for the other three systems.
I have two RealTek 8139 nics eth0 is setup as 10.0.0.2
for my ADSL connection with my ISP, the eth1 is set up
with addressing as follows 192.168.1.2 (my RedHat box),
192.168.1.3 (sons Win98), 192.168.1.4 (sons Win2000),
and finally 192.168.1.5 (daughters WinMe box).
My current nat routing table on the Cisco 675 is set as
follows:
Local IP :Port Glocal IP : Port Timer Flags Proto Interface
10.0.0.2:113 177.76.20.140:113 0 0x0041 tcp eth0 wan0-0
10.0.0.2:113 177.76.20.140:113 0 0x0041 udp eth0 wan0-0
10.0.0.2:194 177.76.20.140:194 0 0x0041 tcp eth0 wan0-0
10.0.0.2:194 177.76.20.140:194 0 0x0041 udp eth0 wan0-0
10.0.0.2:20 177.76.20.140:20 0 0x0041 tcp eth0 wan0-0
10.0.0.2:21 177.76.20.140:21 0 0x0041 tcp eth0 wan0-0
So why do all the irc servers report back on connection that I DON'T
have identd installed? I run ps ax | grep identd and get the following
response back:
1106 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1107 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1108 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1109 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1110 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1111 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1112 ? S 0:00 /usr/local/sbin/identd start
1114 pts/0 S 0:00 grep identd
My identd.pid file has the following 1106.
What am I doing wrong in setting up this RedHat 7 box so
I can access IRC??
Please help... I have been messing with this for over 4 weeks now.
Thanks,
Frank
