I tried to install RedHat Linux 6.2 on an Athlon 800Mhz this weekend
and couldn't get it to boot after install. The boot would start
correctly and try to desactivate the CPUID number that Intel put
in the Pentium II (or was it III). Obviously, this makes the kernel
stall endlessly. I found out this morning by posting in the french
linux forums on Usenet that you have to pass the option
'x68_serial_nr=1' to Lilo for this to be desactivated.
