I haven't yet figured out how to do an install from the command line. I've
used the graphical package manager in X, but none of that is working. Could
someone please walk me through the steps to install this?

PS There were quite a few bad blocks etc on the root partition. Is there a
quick way using RPM to check for other packages that might be broken?
