"Linksys Fast 10/100 tulip clones: These cards need Becker's new tulip
driver installed to function properly. Instructions for compiling are at the
bottom of the source code. Note:If "lspci" or "cat /proc/pci" report an
"unknown" vender and device then the card is probably a Linksys LNE 100TX
version "4.0" or"4.1" card and Becker's latest driver must be used."
If you *very* new to Linux as you claim, I may recommend you go purchase a
$20US NE2000 compatible card, and try to work with that one. Your card
seems to require new drivers, and the process will take time for you to
learn how to do it, troubleshoot/configure it, etc.
If you've got the time and patience, go for it, otherwise you'll save lots
of possible late nights by going for another NIC.
