I just upgraded from RHL 6.2 to RHL 7 on one of my machines (soon to be
renamed "guinea-pig"). I can no longer mount CD-ROMs:
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems
(aren't you trying to mount an extended partition,
instead of some logical partition inside?)
# ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Apr 29 1999 /dev/cdrom -> hdc
# ls -l /dev/hdc
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 22, 0 Oct 3 10:29 /dev/hdc
# tail /var/log/messages
Oct 3 10:34:36 man kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
Oct 3 10:34:36 man kernel: 16:00: rw=0, want=33, limit=0
Oct 3 10:34:36 man kernel: dev 16:00 blksize=1024 blocknr=32 sector=64
size=1024 count=1
Oct 3 10:34:36 man kernel: isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev=16:00,
iso_blknum=16, block=32
What's up?? This worked fine before the upgrade.
