Ahbaid,

In HP-UX, there is no service order file [/etc/nsswitch.conf]
Therefore, to stop resolver from trying NIS, you should
have a nameserver defined in the /etc/resolv.conf file.
HP-UX tries NIS first, then DNS, then hosts file.
