Mozilla did not release the necessary encryption libraries until after the
RPM was packaged. As an open source project with many contributors in the
United States, their ability to provide SSL was hampered by the RSA
patent.
Go to the Mozilla site and follow the instructions to install the SSL
plugin. I believe the SSL support is still experimental (but what about
Mozilla isn't).
