Yes, it will. There was some confusion about this on the Pinstripe list, but
having recompiled 2.2.16 with the 2.4.0 kernel headers installed, I can say
that it works.
In Pinstripe, RH recommended that you used the kgcc (egcs 2.7.2 I think) to
compile the 2.2.x kernels, whereas GCC 2.96 was OK for 2.4. I managed to
compile 2.2.16 with gcc 2.96 though, but YMMV.
