I used to open a VNC export to 2 computers at startup and leave them on
fulltime. It should work for you as well.
It could be a problem with 'Doze. Try rebooting 'Doze (retry, reboot,
reinstall is the M$ motto) and see if that fixes it. Seems to work for most
other things.
