On this list, I keep seeing references to typing commands similar to the 
following:

/etc/rc.d/rc.3/S35inet restart

Maybe it's a guarded secret, but in a class at RedHat, we were shown a much 
easier command that works for all such services AFIK:

service inet restart

You can substitute start/stop/restart as the command.  I never use the older 
style of command.  Maybe I've missed something.  Is there some reason to?

This works with RH 6.2 - can't speak for earlier releases.  I haven't looked 
into how they implemented this command, but it sure saves a lot of typing.
