Unless your ISP requires something unusual, linuxconf or netcfg  should let
your enter phone number, username and password as well as a few other
options. There really is not much of a chat script if your isp uses pap
authentication (I believe that most do)  If unsure I would use a tool to
enter username and secret in pap secrets and delete all the expect script
stuff.  Get the dialup working and then add the demand option.
