Greetings,

All of a sudden today, none of the users on my machine
could start X. The following was the message X gave
me when I tried to log in:

AUDIT: Tue Aug 15 17:19:14 2000: 17401 X: client 1
rejected from local host
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server

I read the X man page and decided to try removing the
.Xauthority file; that worked, but I'd like to know
what happened. The computer got turned off without
being shut down today...could something have gotten
corrupted?

Addendum:
I just found out that a runaway program created a
43.8M
swapfile that used up 100% of the disk space in the
/home partition. Could that have kept X from
starting?

TIA,

Ben Logan
