I had actually tried that, modprobe vfat doesn't return anything, I assumed
that meant it found the module. What if I have a bad file allocation table?
Any prayers to recover the files?
I get the same with msdos as the fstype.

Try running modprobe vfat before running the mount command, and
see if that helps. Sometimes, the vfat module doesn't get loaded
automaticly when you run the mount command...
