You have to make sure the module directory matches the exact version of
your kernel. If your kernel is 2.2.16, then the directory is 2.2.16. If
it's 2.2.16-3, then that's what the directory is called. I'm not sure
where the version is pulled from (since things like RedHat kernel rpms get
the version to be with the kernelversion-rpmrelease notation). I'm sure,
though, that it gets retrieved from the same source that the issue (the
banner at the top of unused ttys) is pulled from.
