 Sorry Chad, but I think it is you who took the wrong turn. You either have to 
share the /boot directory (which you seem to do here) - personally I use 
subdirs in one big /boot dir, (I leave a backup of the original /boot dir on 
the / filesystem,) probably some people will laugh at this scheme -, or you 
will have to mount the other distro's filesystem and end up with something 
like
image=/mnt/suse/boot/vmlinuz
or
image=/mnt/suse.boot/vmlinuz if you use multiple /boot partitions.
