Trying to get a handle on xauthoriz.ation issues. I would
like to understand the care and maintenance of the
~/.Xauthority file. I have a script that needs to run as
another user. I have to su - otheruser to run the script.
It uses scp to download a graphics file and then displays it
via ee. The problem is that the user does not have
authority to connect to the display. If I use xhost
+localhost before I run the script everything is ok.

How do I get this to work without manually doing the xhost
thing? I tried to merge the .Xauthority file from the
otheruser into mine with mkxauth -u myid -m otheruser and
got a messages syting they were merged but still no worky.
What Am I missing?

Every time I get into xauthorizatioin issues I read that
using Xauthority is more secure so i figured I would try to
get a handle on it but I am obviously failing miserably.

Any insights appreciated.

Bret
