I've just installed 6.1 & I can get the dialer in Gnome [ RH PPP] to connect
but
netscape pops up an error message: unknown hosts then says perhaps there is a
problem with the name server... need to set $SOCKS_NS enviromnet variable to
point to appropriate name server.

I can ping the isp server in a term window, my question is, is this a related
problem
like the one above.

I'm new & know just enough to be " dangerious " i've been told :))

TIA

Bob
