Hi all people,

I just have a Win-modem installed and it works fine in GNOME but fails in
KDE

The dev in GNOME is /dev/ttyS14. Unfortunately I could not find this
dev/ttyS14 form modem in KDE

Modem device in KDE is selected /dev/modem. Query modem OK

However the connection started and terminated afterwards with a warning
"Timeout expired while waiting for the PPP interface to come up!"
(Remark: both pppd. Timeout and Modem Timeout edited in "180 seconds"

Following trials have been made:

kppp Configuration --> Device
under Flow Control testing with "CRTSCTS" and "XON/XOFF
under Line Termination testing with "CR" and "CR/LF)

Under Account Setup --> Edit Account: XXXX
Dial tag In Authentication- testing with "PAP" and "Script-based"

PPP log shows
...... ppp[700]: pppd 2.3.11 started by root, uid 0
...... ppp[700]: Terminating on signal 15
...... ppp[700]: Exit

In KDE there is no ppp tool provided by RH 6.2 in GNOME

Any advice. Thanks in advance.

Stephen
