Well, it's dangerous to speculate but not knowing the source of these
messages, I would hazard a guess that unusually large IP packets were being
sent or traffic peaked considerably (perhaps due to a faulty network
component). Or, as you say, it might be something funky with the card that
has nothing to do with the error message.
