What apps are you having problems with?  The ctrl -> keys work for me in
just plain old gnome that ships with rh62 running enlightenment.  That is
in the editors and stuff not the command line.

I don't know if it helps with sawmill whatever that is, but it is not a
GNOME thing per say.
