I'm having some trouble with networking on a new RH6.2 box i put together. It is going to replace a 6.0 box (didn't do an upgrade because i put a new SCSI drive in). So, everything seems to work fine. It doesn't automatically recognize my 3com etherlink III 3c509B rev C ISA card which is fine (i have two other machines with these and it didn't see it in them at first either). So i load the module (depmod -a, modprobe 3c509) and it loads fine. Then i went into linuxconf and put all the information in. Viola, everything works, or at least i thought it did for about 4 seconds. For some reason, when i try to ping our router i get a Segmentation Fault. But i can ping any other computer on that switch. If i try to ping an IP not in my block, i get a Segmentation Fault. If i do a traceroute, segmentation fault. But, i can telnet to any IP address. And if i try an nslookup (to nameservers not on our block), works fine. But if i try to ping www.redhat.com it gives me an "unknown host". So I checked the routing tables. Look good. 4 entries. Same as the box that it is going to replace. Just messing around I remove the default entry the uses our router as a gateway. Suddenly, i can ping the router. I put the entry back into the routing tables. Try pinging, segmentation fault. Basically, I've tried everything I could think of. I checked all of the network files (/etc/sysconfig/network, /etc/HOSTNAME, /etc/hosts, /etc/services, /etc/host.conf, /etc/nsswitch.conf, /etc/resolv.conf) and used every config tool possible (linuxconf, netcfg, netconf, ifconfig, route) I even added an append line in lilo just for the hell of it. I can't figure it out. Has anyone, ever had to deal with this or can someone PLEASE help me before i go insane! Jeff -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
