I'm not sure that I follow you, John.  I think there are a couple rich text 
formats, a Unix RTF and a format created by Microsoft.  The MS RTF is NOT 
well standardized (big surprise) but Wordperfect, for example, renders it 
pretty well.  Possibly other word processers like StarOffice or Applix.  It 
would be hard to read the "source" and I don't think it's like PS where you 
could strip out the text.  Steven, if you search for 'rtf' and 'convert' 
you'll find a number of converters as well; I think I recall a rtf2html 
converted, for example.
