My 6.2 CD came with 2.2-14.5, newer CD's may have newer kernel RPMs. There
are errata items on RedHat's site that include kernel versions 2.2.14-6 and
2.2.14-12

No. The 2.2.16-x RPM *should* include all patches from earlier
kernels. If you've never installed a newer kernel make sure you read the
kernel upgrade guide at:

http://www.redhat.com/support/docs/howto/kernel-upgrade/kernel-upgrade.html

and post questions to the list if you have questions. Essentially you'll
have two kernels after the upgrade. This in case the newer kernel won't
boot - you can always revert to the older one. Once you're satisfied the
new kernel is behaving itself you can remove the old kernel RPM if you want.
