Hi,

I'm running a "tweaked" RH 6.2 dist on my laptop with kernel 2.4.0-test1,
primarily for the USB (mouse) support, and it's been working great, although
it might have been overkill for my needs... Since getting it up-and-running,
I've also tried a stock 2.2.16 with the USB backport patch from 2.3, and
that worked as well. I may switch back to that kernel so I can continue
using the !@#$ Lucent LT Winmodem 2.2 module... If you do switch to a
2.3 or 2.4 kernel, be aware that you'll need to upgrade a bunch of other
programs; it may be safer to stick with a patched 2.2.

In any case, here're some links which will help you out:

    www.linux-usb.org
    www.suse.cz/development/usb-backport/
    www.linuxhq.com

Also, according to info at the www.linux-usb.org, there seems to be
*working* support for a bunch USB scanners...

Good Luck!
