Hi all, as this is my first post, here's a quick introduction, I've
been using Linux for about 6 months (Red Hat 6.0) so I'm quite new to
it. Before that I had bad experiences with Winblows 98 for about 3
months, and before that I used (and loved) various Amigas since 1989.
I've actually had very few problems with Linux that reading the help
files and this list haven't solved, but after constantly badgering a
friend I finally got him to install it. First it trashed his MBR (which
I sorted out). The main problem now is that it won't fully shutdown, it
all goes fine until the very last point where my computer powers off,
his doesn't. He gets this error -

CODE: (1) UNABLE TO HANDLE
KERNEL PAGING REQUEST AT
VIRTUAL ADDRESS 00008875

CURRENT:->tss.cr3=06d24000,
%cr3:06d2400

He has an AMD K6-2 with a Chaintech MB, I've got a P3 also with a
Chaintech MB so we've been through BIOS settings to make sure they're
the same, I've checked the help files and this lists archives but can't
find any mention of a similar problem. Any ideas ?

        Thanks for listening,
                Matt.
