What exactly is the problem?  I've set up both 8.10 and 8.11Beta recently
with no problems.  You can use a 8.9 .cf file with 8.10 and 8.11.

The real issue is, you need to stop relaying for sites outside of your local
LAN (or whatever is appropriate in your case).  The sendmail.org site has
documentation on how to do this.  In 8.9, it can be done easily.  If you're
running 8.8 or before, I really recommend the upgrade.

Read the INSTALL and README files in the root of your sendmail source
directory.
