I don't care who you work for (within reason). No one deserves to have their lives threatened by terrorists. "got what they deserve" is a little strong. If one of these security guards had been killed, would you be saying the same thing? How would you justify such a position? We shouldn't let our dislike of a corporation whose only fault is being the monopoly cloud our ability to be humane. Microsoft is a software company, not the Fourth Reich.
