I have a motherboard with an ALI15XX chipset. Current kernels only seem
to have support for ALI14XX chipsets. As a result, it appears I'm
unable to use DMA with my IDE devices. I assume this will effect the
data transfer rate and overrall performance of my machine. In the
kernel I have support for generic chipsets and DMA as default and I've
even tried the support for ALI14XX chipsets -- none seem to work. Could
anyone please suggest the necessary kernel configuration to enable DMA
for my motherboard? It would be greatly appreciated. Here is an
example of my boot messages indicating the problem:
PCI_IDE: unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00 device 78, VID=10b9,
DID=5229
PCI_IDE: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
PCI_IDE: simplex device: DMA disabled
ide0: PCI_IDE Bus-Master DMA disabled (BIOS)
PCI_IDE: simplex device: DMA disabled
ide1: PCI_IDE Bus-Master DMA disabled (BIOS)
