Hi We have recently upgraded from 5.1 to 6.2 Intermittently the server slows down completely. On investigation the following daemons seem to be hogging CPU time: root 144 0.1 0.3 1208 464 ? S 15:23 0:02 lpsched /amdq root 1649 94.2 0.2 1256 296 ? R 15:47 7:18 in.telne /amdq root 1789 0.0 0.3 1244 508 pts/1 S 15:55 0:00 grep amdq I cannot find a reference to amdq anywhere !. I assume that lpsched is related to the lpd ?. The only way to solve the problem is to reboot. Even then I have to remove the network cable until the machine has completed otherwise it hangs on named or sendmail.
