Forwarding not working

Anybody else having trouble getting the IP forwarding to auto-start on RH 6.2?  I've got everything set correctly, according to Red Hat, it just won't auto-start, forcing me to do a:   echo 1 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward   every time I reboot.   Does anyone know exactly WHERE the auto-start is supposed to take place?  I've been around and around /etc/rc.d and can't seem to find anything for it.   Thanks - Tom
