Hi,

I'm trying to write a letter in LaTeX which will be printed on
letterhead. The problem is that this letterhead has a rather thick
banner going across the top of the first page, but no banner on
following pages. I want to set \textheight to 8.5in, which makes the
text look good on following pages. Unfortunately, this textheight
prints the date on top of the banner on the first page. How do I adjust
the text height on only the first page? If I adjust \textheight, this
change gets applied to all the pages in the letter. I also tried
\topskip, but this also applied the top margin to all the pages.
Thanks,

Hidong
