If you want to low-level format an IDE drive you really need
to go the the manufactures web pages and get their formater (generally
a DOS app). Western Digital definitely has one, as does Seagate.
Seems like I've seen one for Maxtor as well. But you must use the
correct utility for the brand of drive you have.
