XFree - No Screens?

My father is trying to install Linux on his machine and he is getting the
message no screens available when he tries to start X. Does anyone know what
this is? I have not had any problems with X myself so I have not read about
it much. Can anyone tell me if I am correct in assuming this is referring to
the screens section of the config file?
