Thanks in advance to all ...
I'm still frustrated in installing any later RHL than 4.2 (!) in my
486. I've about given up, but I don't want to just throw the machine
away. It just won't boot any installation floppies (images) except
the 4.2 ones. It's not a RAM problem; it has 16MB.
Can I do this the following?
Boot to the RHL4.2 installation floppies with a more recent RHL, like
5.2, 6.1, or, soon, 6.2 in the CDROM drive ...
Will such an install work?
I suppose not. I'm really bummed out on this problem -- I just can't
get to an understanding of what to do. The only boot floppies I have
for this system are the 4.2 installation ones. RHL4.2 doesn't have
the "mkboot" package, so I can't make a "rescue" set.
Any help and explanations of what the problem might be would really
be appreciated. This is a multi-boot all SCSI system that has been
running 4.2 for a long time. RHL is on the second of the two SCSI
hard drives.
Thanks again,
