I am running 6.1 off the shelf Red Hat and Netscape 4.7-1.1.

Off the shelf, Java in Netscape does not work. I have turned it off in
Edit...Preferences...Advanced.

Recently I have been looking at the IBM site
http://www.ibm.com/java/jdk/118/linux/ and
http://www.ibm.com/java/jdk/118/linux/installation.html and the other
links on the IBM Linux page http://www.ibm.com/developer/linux/.

Has anyone used the JDK or JRE available for download at IBM above for
Java content with success with Netscape 4.7-1.1 and Red Hat 6.1? If yes,
did you follow to the letter the IBM installation instructions or were
there additional steps required, and if so what were they?

Can the files and files in /usr/bin/java , /usr/lib/linuxconf/java ,
/usr/lib/netscape/java/classes be deleted without fatal or unpleasant
consequences?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
William Salvino
