Well, I seem to have solved most of my problems by installing RH 6.2 from CD. It was a very easy and clean install. A lot of things are the way I want them without compiling a new kernel and it doesn't look like I need to.

However, there are a couple minor glitches:  1) sound doesn't work yet, was compiled in during the install but that can wait,  2) can't resolve hostname and it's playing games with Xwindows and Netscape.

I've checked and rechecked and edited the files: HOSTNAME, hosts, and resolv.conf to get them to agree. I saved the same files from the last version before I blew it away and they worked great, but in 6.2. I even went so far to look up the recommended way in my Unleashed  (third edition) but that didn't work either.

Does anyone know what is different for these files in 6.2 or what is required to get them to work together?  Besides getting a "Error resolving hostname" message, ppp, X and Netscape don't work correctly, either.
