Hi Michael,
        If the sound card is a Sound Blaster, or Sound Blaster Pro,
you should be able to hook the CD ROM drive to it and use the
Sound Blaster CD driver.  I have used a setup like that in the
past.  You can also check out the cdu31a driver.  It may work
with the existing card.  (Or it may not... - read the cdu31a
docs in the Linux source...)
