Hi Chris, thanks for taking interest.
I actually finally got rsync to work using:
rsync -av --progress --stats --partial \
mirror.aarnet.edu.au::redhat/redhat-6.2/iso/zoot-i386.iso \
/usr/download/zoot-i386.iso
And once she gets cranking, she's pretty good for speed.
BUT GOD! Is it ever slow to get going.
I have already downloaded about 270Mb of the iso
It takes 5 minutes for rsync to (verify?) for every percentage of download I
have. During this time there's almost no ppp activity.
I takes about 30 minutes before it reaches the end of what I already have,
THEN starts ppp activity to get the rest.
If the line drops at my ISP, and I re-bring up the link, I see no further
activity at all until I re-start rsync.
Not ideal for me I guess. Unless someone can explain why it's so slow I may
try wget yet.
