I really appreciate the vocabulary.

I just can't figure out why the kernel guys insists on writing out the
dull and way too serious message:

"Please, stand by while the computer is booting" (or something like it)

when the message actually *should* be:

"Please, stand back while the computer is booting".
               ^^^^
   ;-)

I'm aware that it's off-topic and that I should probably bring this to
the kernel list, but I've been disturbed by this since the first time I
(re)booted a Linux box. :-)
