That is a development version. Just because it has been around since
November doesn't mean much - things are not really even feature-frozen
yet.

It's not "STABLE", it's the development branch. The latest available
stable versions of all the Gnome stuff are in 6.2.
If you want the features from the devel branch, you can get the package
and install it, or compile it out of CVS like I do :)
