A couple more suggestions:

1. You can get a newer version of ghostscript from:
http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/aladdin/get600.html (there are links
RPMS built on RH 5.1 in the "Unix and VMS" section that seem to work
fine on my RH 6.1 system).  

Although I don't know all the details, basically you can download this
version and use it for free, but they don't allow the latest
ghostscript version to be distributed by RH or other Linux
distribtuions (they release previous versions under the GPL).

2. You can download Adobe's Acrobat Reader (acroread) from:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

Somewhere, I also found RPMS versions of this, but I can't remember
where right now.
