Yes, you can
on your solaris box set tye DISPLAY shell variable to
theboxaddres:0.0
csh or tcsh eg: setenv DISPLAY mylinuxbox:0.0
bas eg: DISPLAY=mylinuxbox:0.0 ; export DISPLAY
then you can run your openview software :)
Alternatively: you can start your openview software with the appropriate
option. eg: thesoftware -normal-options-if-any -diplay mylinuxbox:0.0
this will have the same effect as setting the DISPLAY variable
this will generally work with most programs written for X. it's one of the
nice things abut Xwindows :)
You can even get your X app to diaply on yur winbug box using software
such as XWin32 to emulate an Xserver on your windows box! works a treat.
this has been like this from I think about day one of X, but you watch
microsoft: they have done the same thing with their display crap (not
available AFAIK yet), and they will market it as a new idea... just as
they have done for everything else...
