It's always possible.  What all is hanging off the SCSI bus?  (cat 
/proc/scsi/scsi should give a list).  Normally terminator power is enabled 
on all devices but termination is only enabled on the first & last device 
on the bus.  Is the card at one end of the chain or in the middle?  That 
is, do you have internal devices plugged into one side of the card and 
external to the other?  If so, you'll need to disable termination on the 
card and terminate the last internal & external device on the chain.  Do 
you see something like "Press Ctrl-A for SCSI select" when you boot the 
machine?  If so, check the termination settings on the card.

See if any of this helps and report back if it doesn't.
