Ok, I know there are advantage and disadvantages to RPM. Please, lets not start that again. But what would happen I say downloaded Debian's packager (whatever it is) and tried to use Debian packages on my RH 6 system? Might it work? I think we (the linux community) need to standardize packages. I've seen posted before that RPM's are great unless you get some tarball's alongside them. Well why not make one package format that can adapt to the different distro's arrangements? It wouldn't be making one uniform package. There could be some sort of "flags" that would tell the package what distro the user had, and place things according to the distro's scheme. This post might have been better evaulated over on the RPM list but on this list there is more people and also I'd bet there are people on this list with multiple distro's on their comps. -Brandon Dorman -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
