AFAIK, as long as the SCSI card is supported, pretty much any device you
can hang off of it will be supported. If the device is detected during
boot-up and shows in /proc/scsi/scsi, you're pretty much in business. If
you can write to the device with tar then other backup applications
shouldn't have any trouble either. I use EST's (http://www.estinc.com)
BRU2000 software for backup & restore and have been happy with it. It can
be run from the console or X-windows and can be easily scheduled with a
script or two started by cron. There are other commercial & non-commercial
solutions available as well like amanda, Arkeia, lone-tar and others but I
don't have any experience with them so I can't comment.
