Hi all,

I am researching applications for enterprise class e-commerce packages and
thought that some of you may have suggestions about what you might consider
good starting points.

In terms of my requirements my brief is very general and so I am considering
that I will need to look at:
-business to business ordering and payments facilties (both for clients and
suppliers), this would probably require access to the inventory system
-customer ordering facilities, including cash payments and billing
-customer payment facilities
-order fulfillment tracking
-credit facilities
-complaints and returns facilities
-it would need to be able to run 24/7, on a stable system (hence Linux :-)
-can be interfaced with the local banking system for immediate credit card
approvals and electronic account transactions
-it, perhaps obviously, would need to be fast--especially for online access
-it, again obviously, would need to have a full reporting/logging capability
-it, very obviously, would need to be secure (using VPN, or some such,
especially for supplier access)

At this point the application that first springs to mind is Intershop (which I
understand provides all/most of these capabilties) but I don't know if it has
been ported to Linux yet. From the brief I have received I get the impression
that the idea is to look at shrink wrapped packages (but isn't that always the
best way) and it may not be ideal at this point to consider the expense and
complexity of developing something from scratch -- although the 'right' package
would have to be adapted anyway.

Does anyone know what is currently available on RHLinux that may fit this bill?

Ta

Alan
