if thats the case :-
When Linux Prompts in for a Login and password all you have to do is
1) type in your "usrname" and Password
2) Type in "su"
3) Type in your "su" password
4) Type in "passwd root" or "/usr/sbin/passwd root" and type in your new root
password.
