I presume you mean the normal 80x25 vga text mode. If so, 'man lilo.conf'
explains setting the 'vga=' line in lilo.conf.
I'd suggest you use 'ask' as the setting until you find one that works to
your satisfaction, else you may find you lose your video and can't get
logged in to reset it. You can always reboot to something you can see with
'ask' set. Not necessarily so with some of the others.
Not something I _KNOW_ happens, just something that I can see _MIGHT_
happen.
